Queensland Health have confirmed six people have been identified as victims of rat poisoning after eating contaminated homemade food products.

Officials confirmed three unlabelled homemade food products were behind the poisoning cluster in Logan, south-east Queensland.

The affected items included a homemade capsicum and chili paste, and a marinated eggplant dish containing the same paste.

Five people, including a child, have been hospitalised after consuming the products, which were either gifted or sold locally from mid-September.

A sixth person, related to some of the victims, tested positive for the toxin through contact tracing on Friday.

“No other cases external to the cluster already identified have been detected,” Queensland Health said in a statement.
