Orb webs are among the most easily spotted spider webs in nature. Shaped like a wheel, with concentric circles around silk spokes, the webs are sometimes adorned with decorations – called stabilimenta . Some stabilimenta look like a zig zag decoration, while others take the shape of a circular disk.
But what purpose do they serve?
