Srinagar, Oct 31: Since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, a total of 631 people from outside Jammu and Kashmir have purchased land measuring over 386 kanal in the Union Territory, according to official figures tabled in the J&K Legislative Assembly by the Revenue Department.
The department, in a written reply to Un-Starred Question No. 286 raised by MLA Sheikh Ahsan Ahmed, revealed that these land transactions by non-residents collectively amounted to Rs 129.97 crore between October 2019 and 2025.
Of the total, Jammu division recorded 378 buyers who purchased 212 kanal, 13 marla, and 128 square feet of land worth Rs 90.48 crore, while 253 outsiders bought 173 kanal, 7 marla in Kashmir division involving Rs 39.49 crore.
