What is It: Welcome to Derry about, exactly? I don’t mean that as a “gotcha” — it just feels like a question worth asking. Most prequels offer an origin story for characters we know and love, whether or not that’s something we asked for, but this one has yet to even show Pennywise (at least in his Bill Skarsgård form), and we know his story begins well before 1962. There are also some obvious narrative limitations to consider: Pennywise won’t be defeated for good until 2016, and the ending of the Black Spot tale has already been told.
