COLUMBUS, Ohio — The city of Columbus joined a lawsuit Thursday against the Trump administration over a suspension of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP , amid the ongoing federal government shutdown.
According to City Attorney Zach Klein's office, the federal lawsuit includes several local governments, charitable and faith-based nonprofit organizations, small businesses and workers’ rights organizations.
The case challenges the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s alleged refusal to use available funds to maintain SNAP benefits during the shutdown, the attorney’s office said. The U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed in a new notice that no SNAP funds will be distributed on Nov. 1.
