Michigan was selected for a multi-billion-dollar OpenAI Stargate project which will bring thousands of jobs to the state, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced on Thursday.

The new AI data center, which will have a 1 gigawatt computing capacity, will be built in Washtenaw County’s Saline Township, authorities and the companies involved said. It is the largest one-time investment in Michigan’s history, according to the Democratic governor.
