EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Daylight saving time ends on Sunday, and the American Red Cross is reminding you to test your smoke alarms as you turn back your clocks.
You should check to make sure they are working and replace the batteries if needed.
Experts also say alarms should be replaced after 10 years.
They say working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire in half.
Red Cross officials say they respond to about 65,000 disasters annually across the country, and the majority are home fires.
If you cannot afford to purchase smoke alarms or are physically unable to install one, the Red Cross may be able to help.
