With the federal government shutdown halting SNAP benefits for recipients nationwide Nov. 1, Akron-area grocers are expressing concern for their customers ‒ and their own bottom lines.

Leaders of Seven Grains Natural Market in Tallmadge and Mustard Seed Market & Café , which has locations in Akron's Highland Square neighborhood and the Montrose shopping area of Bath, said they feel for their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program customers and expect their businesses to experience sales losses.
