Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been transferred to a federal prison in New Jersey.

Combs, who was found guilty in July of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, is likely to serve the remainder of his sentence at Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix, reports Rolling Stone.

He is believed to have arrived at the prison, which is located on a military base approximately 40 miles outside Philadelphia, in the early hours of Thursday.

Earlier this month, U.S District Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced Combs to 50 months in prison, which equates to four years and two months. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, his projected release date is 8 May 2028.

Prosecutors had recommended 11 years in prison, while the rapper's defence team advocated for 14 months.

Before the transfer, Combs had been incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in New York since his arrest in September 2024.

Combs' legal team had previously complained about the conditions at MDC and requested a move to Fort Dix.

His attorney Teny Geragos wrote in a letter filed to court on 6 October, "In order to address drug abuse issues and to maximise family visitation and rehabilitative efforts, we request that the court strongly recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that Mr. Combs be placed at FCI Fort Dix."

The 55-year-old musician is being housed in a drug program unit away from the prison's general population, as reported by ABC News.

Combs recently filed a formal notice to appeal his conviction and sentence. Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump claimed Combs had reached out and asked him to consider a pardon.
