BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- From dancing dinosaurs to witches riding rollercoasters, characters surrounded city hall for the annual Birmingham Harvest Festival Thursday.
"I was a witch a couple of years ago, so I was like we'll to put a spin on the witch," said Birmingham resident Stephanie Amerson.
Dressed as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West from the musical 'Wicked,' Stephanie Amerson said she shares concerns when it comes to her daughter trick or treating.
It's one reason why they opted to attend the festival at city hall.
"I feel safer coming to city hall, I like that they dress it up as a fall festival and not so much Halloween. We try to do something positive both for her and myself, not really scary and not the normal Halloween traditions," said Amerson.
