DULUTH — After receiving complaints from employees, the Minnesota Attorney General's Office has opened an investigation into the use of noncompete agreements at Aspirus St. Luke's.
The Wisconsin-based nonprofit health care system was served a subpoena Oct. 16 for additional information on those agreements.
“Aspirus Health is a values-driven organization with a mission to heal people, promote health and strengthen communities,” according to a statement provided by Aspirus Health. “We look forward to working closely with the attorney general’s office to clarify any misunderstanding.”
While Minnesota banned noncompete agreements in 2023, such agreements are not outright banned in Wisconsin, given they are reasonable in scope, duration and geography, as well as protecting a legitimate busin
