TEMPE, Ariz. — The mother of a teenage victim who was violently assaulted by a group of assailants near ASU's campus in Tempe is urging parents to talk to their kids.

The mother, who asked to remain anonymous, said she has yet to watch the video showing what happened to her son.

"It's hard. I have not watched the video yet. I know that there's CCTV and there's even more video available, and I probably won't watch that because it breaks your mom heart, but I know that has to be shared," she said.

Court records say the teen victim was hanging out in a friend's dorm room at ASU. Neither the victim nor the suspects are students at ASU. A group of unknown males showed up at the same dorm room and "shoulder checked" the victim. That group left.
