Our cookbook of the week is Setting a Place for Us by Hawa Hassan, a James Beard Award-winning author, TV host , and founder and CEO of Basbaas , a line of African-inspired sauces and condiments.
Hawa Hassan drew on her own experiences as a refugee for her second cookbook, Setting a Place for Us. The entrepreneur travelled the world conducting interviews and researching the food cultures of eight countries affected by conflict: Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Egypt, El Salvador, Iraq, Lebanon, Liberia and Yemen.
