STERLING, Va. (DC News Now) -- A man was arrested Wednesday on multiple arson-related charges after a town house fire killed a woman last week, officials announced.
The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal's Office and the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office determined that the deadly three-alarm town house fire in Sterling was intentional.
The incident took place just after 1 a.m. on Oct. 24 when crews responded to a fire in the 20000 block of Riptide Square. It was also reported that someone was possibly trapped inside the townhomes on fire.
Responding crews were met with a large volume of fire that caused multiple structural collapses, which prevented them from entering the homes. They had to extinguish the fire from the outside.
