New Delhi, Oct 31: Govt has launched the National Marine Fisheries Census 2025 in a fully digital format, reported by Union Minister George Kurian.

The census will digitally enumerate about 1.2 million fisher households across 5,000 marine villages in 13 coastal states and union territories, including the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.

Utilizing mobile applications VyAS-BHARAT and VyAS-SUTRA, the initiative aims for real-time, geo-referenced data collection, eliminating errors and speeding up processing.

The census will collect comprehensive data on socio-economic conditions, family income, homeownership, and impacts of the pandemic, expanding its scope for more effective government interventions. Core data collection will occur from November 3 to December 18, with a digita
