Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will retain their titles after Andrew Windsor, the former Prince Andrew, was officially stripped of his.

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor may no longer be a prince, but the former royal's children won't face a similar fate.

Following King Charles III's initiation of the formal process to remove the former Prince Andrew's title and honors, his daughters – Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie – will not be affected by the ouster. Both will retain their titles under King George V's Letters Patent of 1917, the decree that limits who and who couldn't use royal titles and allows prince and princess titles for the children of a sovereign.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement Thursday, Oct. 30, that Windsor will also leave his royal residence at the Royal Lodge. The move comes three years after he was ousted as a senior royal following allegations over his connections to convicted American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Meanwhile, Beatrice and Eugenie's mother and Windsor's ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, has already ceased using her Duchess of York courtesy title. Ferguson removed the royal title from her social media, days after Buckingham Palace announced her ex-husband would no longer use his royal titles. She has gone by her name professionally for several years, given her divorce from the prince in 1996.

In September, several charities announced they would cut ties with the former duchess following media reports that she had described Epstein as a "supreme friend" in an email.

Ferguson's spokesperson declined to comment on the charities' actions at the time, but said in a statement to BBC and People: "The Duchess spoke of her regret about her association with Epstein many years ago, and as they have always been her first thoughts are with his victims. Like many people, she was taken in by his lies."
