Pueblo County commissioners have sent a letter to Colorado Gov. Jared Polis asking the state to take on a larger share of the financial burden in the county's ongoing response to the Davis Mortuary incident, citing costs well outside the county's budget.
The mortuary co-owned by former Pueblo County Coroner Brian Cotter officially relinquished its license to operate as a funeral home and crematory earlier this month after 24 bodies and several containers of bones and probable human tissue were found inside a concealed room of the funeral home in late August.
