LEWISBURG — Urban legends and local myths are less about historical truth and more about the meanings people find in them, according to Bucknell University Associate Professor of Anthropology Clare Sammells.
Sammells, who holds a degree in folklore and mythology, said she had not heard of the Wolfman of Schwaben Creek in Northumberland County but found the legend fascinating. She cautioned against trying to link the story to a specific historical event and instead encouraged looking for its meaning and what people are trying to tell each other.
