The District 5 Nampa City Council race is a highly contested one, with two incumbents and two newcomers vying for one seat.
The district encompasses the southwest corner of the city, roughly spanning between Lone Star and Greenhurst roads, and between Midway Road and 12th Avenue South.
The longest-sitting member of city council, Councilmember Randy Haverfield, is running to retain his seat for a fourth term. Councilmember Victor Rodriguez has held Seat 1 for eight years, but due to redistricting, no longer resides in the district.
Running against the two incumbents are Shaun Simmons and Wendy Rhodes, a commissioner on the Nampa Development Corporation Board.
Municipal elections are designated as nonpartisan, meaning a candidate's political party will not be listed on the ballot.
