Mortgage interest rates have been on a downward slide in recent weeks, offering relief to homebuyers and homeowners who are looking to refinance. The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate now sits at about 6.4% (as of October 31, 2025), down from over 7% earlier this year. This decline has coincided with the Federal Reserve cutting its benchmark rate at its September and October meetings, the latter of which concluded this week.
