The FBI prevented a "potential terrorist attack" in Michigan, arresting multiple people involved in an alleged Halloween weekend plot, FBI Director Kash Patel announced on Friday, Oct. 31.

"This morning the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend," Patel said in a post on X . "More details to come."

Patel did not say how many people were arrested or describe the charges they face.

FBI agents were present in Dearborn and Inkster, two suburbs in the Detroit metro area, said Jordan Hall, a spokesperson for the FBI's Detroit field office. He did not say if the agents were involved in the investigation Patel described.

"There is no current threat to public safety," he added.
