ANN ARBOR, MI - I didn’t know who Morgan Wallen was until about a month ago. I’m now aware of the wide range of opinions on perhaps the nation’s biggest country music star.

Wallen will be the headliner for Michigan Stadium’s second-ever concert , as our University of Michigan reporter William Diep covered on Thursday. Wallen will do Big House shows on July 24-25, 2026.

Diep and I have fielded a wide range of reactions to Wallen’s upcoming concert, from University of Michigan students and alumni to local residents and officials.

My biggest takeaway: the economic impact of a Wallen concert will be huge, but the star comes with baggage that irks many.
