A man with a lengthy criminal record said he is “getting too old” to be in court.
Allan Smythe-Lance pleaded guilty to seven offences including assault, theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000 on Thursday.
He assaulted a man a Huron Street home on April 13, said assistant Crown attorney Andrew Allen. Items were taken from a home on St. James Street in March. Smythe-Lance grabbed and strangled a woman at a Letcher Street residence in July. He also damaged her property. Smythe-Lance missed a court date in April.
Defense counsel Eric McCooeye told Ontario Court Justice Robert Villeneuve his client “had been doing well” since 2019, but relationships “caused disruption.”
Allen called Smythe-Lance’s record, including assault, robbery, sexual assault and sexual interference, “horrendous.
