This year has been particularly challenging for Grand Canyon National Park, not only because of the massive layoffs at the beginning of the year, the funding cuts, and the current U.S. government shutdown.
Thousands of acres were completely destroyed by the Dragon Bravo Fire, which ignited in this protected area in July and continued to burn for months. This led to the closure of several areas, but now, some of them are reopening to the public.
Some parts of the North Rim reopened in late September , and according to information published on Grand Canyon National Park’s official website , two campgrounds are about to open again. But is this beneficial for the park amid the current U.S. government shutdown?
