S ussan Ley’s attempted linking of Anthony Albanese to antisemitism through his T-shirt featuring Joy Division , a band whose name she said “was taken from a wing of a Nazi concentration camp where Jewish women were forced into sexual slavery”, bizarrely dominated the week in federal politics.

A spokesperson from the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum indicated Ley’s assertion was incorrect.

“As far as we know, there is no historical records of any ‘wing’ of a concentration camp where Jewish women were forced into sexual slavery,” a spokesperson from the museum told us.

The spokesperson, who admitted to us “I am not an expert on the history of punk music” stressed brothels and sexual servitude in the camps did indeed exist, and most of the women forced to work “were German social misfit
