PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) -- Republican Winsome Earle-Sears' campaign bus caught fire Thursday afternoon while en-route to an event.

In a post on X, Earle-Sears confirmed the fire and said no one was injured.

Her Democrat opponent, Abigail Spanger also took to social media to share she was "relieved to hear Winsome Earle-Sears and her team are safe."

The incident happened just five days before the Virginia gubernational election.
