Celtic interim boss Martin O’Neill moved to clarify scathing comments about rivals Rangers ahead of facing them on Sunday.
The Irishman said “Rangers are no threat whatsoever” and that “they are so far adrift, it’s untrue” in the context of the Premiership title race in his role as talkSPORT pundit.
And just 24 hours after making those comments he was appointed as Parkhead caretaker gaffer following the shock exit of Brendan Rodgers .
Rangers are five points behind the Hoops in the league table and a whopping 11 behind leaders Hearts - and O’Neill insists that’s the point he was making.
