An investigation is underway after a Newark-bound JetBlue flight was forced to land in Florida when the crew experienced a "flight control issue," ultimately landing multiple people in the hospital, the Federal Aviation Administration and airline said.
JetBlue flight 1230 was heading from Cancun, Mexico to Newark Airport on the afternoon of Oct. 30 when it experienced a "drop in altitude," prompting the flight to divert to Tampa, Florida, JetBlue said in an emailed statement.
Upon landing, the flight was met by medical personnel who evaluated passengers and crewmembers. Those needing additional care were brought to local hospitals.
The airline did not immediately say how many people were injured or disclose the extent of their injuries.
