BELLAIRE — Crosshatch Center for Art and Ecology has announced plans to open a new community hub, the Crosshatch Meeting Place + Mercantile, in downtown Bellaire.

According to an Oct. 30 news release from the nonprofit, it recently purchased the building at 221 N. Bridge St., formerly home to Uniquely North.

The new location will serve as the organization’s headquarters and a gathering place for residents and visitors.

Founded in Bellaire 20 years ago, Crosshatch serves a 10-county region across Northwest Michigan, focusing on building strong communities through art, farming, ecology, and local economy.

The downtown space will host workshops, events, and gatherings designed to foster connection and learning.
