The Rodney Community Centre gymnasium was filled with laughter and creativity as 22 large orange pumpkins were transformed into jack-o-lanterns in preparation for Halloween night.
The Kiwanis Club of Rodney hosted its second annual pumpkin carving night, drawing children, parents and even a few grandparents. Using safe carving tools supplied by the Kiwanians, participants worked through the thick-walled gourds to create expressive faces featuring arched eyebrows, wide eyes, pointed noses and toothy grins — some friendly, others suitably fearsome.
Special thanks go to Julian Gervais of Over the Top Produce for providing the pumpkins. The tops had been cut and much of the pulp removed beforehand, but plenty of work remained for the adults assisting younger participants, while the pre-teens
