A 39-year-old woman had to listen for the second time to gruesome details of the carnage she caused in 2023 as she was sentenced for impaired driving.

Shawnna Young was drinking and impaired by several drugs, according to testing after she was cut out of her vehicle on Colborne Street East in Brant County on April 1, 2023.

She tried to pass one vehicle, lost control and, in trying to right herself, hit a second vehicle and then swerved into oncoming traffic, hitting a third vehicle head-on.

“In the accused’s vehicle were beer cans both open and unopened, and a strong odour of alcohol in the vehicle,” said Justice Gethin Edward as he sentenced Young recently.

Both Young and a woman in the third vehicle had to be cut from their cars by first responders.
