Close to half a million bottles of the blood pressure medication prazosin hydrochloride have been recalled in the U.S. over concerns it may include a cancer-causing chemical.

The U.S. FDA said the Teva Pharmaceuticals USA and drugs distributor Amerisource Health Services have issued voluntary nationwide recalls earlier this month of more than 580,000 bottles of various strengths of prazosin capsules.

Prazosin is a drug that relaxes blood vessels and is prescribed to help lower blood pressure. It may also be prescribed to treat nightmares and other sleep disturbances associated with post-traumatic stress disorder.
