Jonathan Taylor could find the end zone in record time within the Sahara Desert. Hailing from "Running Back U," otherwise known as the University of Wisconsin, has sent its fair share of players to the NFL, but Taylor has been the most complete in recent memory.
Wisconsin could also be "Offensive Lineman U," but for the sake of argument, let's stick with the running back theme. Taylor totaled 174 scrimmage yards (153 rushing, 21 receiving) and 3 touchdowns (2 rushing, one receiving) last week and joined Choo Choo Roberts (1949 with the New York Giants) as the only players all-time with 3 touchdowns in four of his first eight games of a season. On Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Taylor can become the fourth player in NFL history to record at least 3 touchdowns in five games in a single season. We are only in Week 9 by the way!
In doing so, he would join LaDainian Tomlinson (6 games in 2006), Marshall Faulk ( 5 games in 2000), and Chuck Foreman (5 games in 1975). Taylor leads the NFL with 850 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns. Also on Sunday, he can become the sixth player since 1990, and first since 2006, to surpass 900 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns in a player's first nine games of the season.
