The owner of Roger Williams Medical Center and Fatima Hospital has asked a bankruptcy court to transfer the facilities to the state or allow them to be closed.

Prospect Medical Holdings, the for-profit company that has been trying to sell the hospitals all year, on Thursday Oct. 30 said it could no longer wait for the nonprofit Centurion Foundation to secure financing for the sale.
