SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Tiny patients at Sanford Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit celebrated their first Halloween in style, thanks to a group of Lincoln High School students who handmade and donated costumes just their size.
Parents said the gesture brought joy and normalcy to what can often be a stressful time.
“It’s pretty awesome,” said the mother of Addison, Hannah Swenson. “It’s kind of like when you go out trick-or-treating in the neighborhood - you see all the kids dressed up and everybody roaming around. It’s just that we’re all here together.”
For Swenson, the handcrafted details made the moment even more meaningful.
“I wish that we weren’t in the NICU, but the fact that we are, I think how we’re celebrating it is the best possible outcome,” she said. “Th
