One of the many players on the San Francisco 49ers ' roster who has gotten bitten hard by the injury bug is starting quarterback Brock Purdy. Following their Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks, he was diagnosed with turf toe, and while he returned for Week 4, he has missed every other game so far this year.
The 49ers have done just fine without him, as they have gotten solid play from Mac Jones, the former Pro Bowler who was a first-round draft pick in 2021. They have a 5-3 record and, despite their many key injuries, are in the midst of a race for first place in the NFC West, as they trail the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams by just one game.
They will visit the New York Giants this Sunday before a showdown against the Rams on Nov. 9 at Levi's Stadium. It seems unlikely that P
