A Sudbury man with a history of sexually abusing children will have a Dangerous Offender hearing next spring.

A date of May 26 has been set for Michel Albert, who remains in custody.

The Dangerous Offender designation is reserved for Canada’s most violent criminals and sexual predators. Crown attorneys can seek the designation during sentencing and must show there is a high risk that the criminal will commit violent or sexual offences.

If successful, Albert, 48, could receive an indeterminate sentence (detention for an indefinite period) or a long-term supervision order.
