J.D. Vance is being weird about his wife, Usha , again. Speaking at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Mississippi on Wednesday, the vice-president made a big show of saying he hopes his wife, who was raised Hindu, will eventually come around to Christianity.

During the Q&A portion of his talk , a young woman asked Vance a lengthy question that touched on immigration, religion, and Vance’s home life. “You are raising three kids in an interracial, cultural, racial, religious household,” the woman said at one point. “How are you teaching your kids not to keep your religion ahead of their mother’s religion?”

“Yes, my wife did not grow up Christian. I think it’s fair to say that she grew up in a Hindu family, but not a particularly religious family in either direction,” Vanc
