BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- The St. Helena Parish School District is hosting its third annual Literacy Fair on Tuesday, Nov. 19. This event will celebrate reading, creativity, and community engagement.
Students will enjoy fun reading activities. They can dress up as their favorite book characters. They’ll also take part in hands-on learning and explore a special reading corner.
Superintendent Dr. Kelli Joseph said the event encourages students to connect with stories in a personal way.
Kids will select their favorite book and report on it. Joseph said that the district is also launching other programs to inspire a love of reading and increase literacy rates.
The district’s literacy initiatives are also helping more parents get involved in their children’s education.
