LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington man has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge in connection with a December 2023 shooting that left one man dead.

According to the Fayette County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, 26-year-old Luquan Hayes pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree manslaughter in the death of 34-year-old Devon Dockery Jr.

Police say Dockery was found shot inside a car at East Fifth Street and Pemberton Street on December 27, 2023. Hayes was identified as the shooter and arrested in January 2024

The charge was amended down from murder.

Prosecutors have recommended a 10-year prison sentence, and Hayes is scheduled to be formally sentenced January 9.
