THURSTON COUNTY, Wash — A man is in custody after shooting at deputies in Thurston County during a pursuit following a foiled burglary, officials say.

The Thurston County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) responded to a reported commercial burglary near Old Highway 99 on Thursday night, according to a social media post from the department. Sheriff Derek Sanders said a neighbor called about an unknown suspect who had gone inside of a shop and attempted to steal a tractor by ramming open the doors.

Upon arrival, deputies found a commercial building with "substantial damage," Sanders said. A white pickup truck was seen fleeing the scene, and deputies initiated a pursuit for burglary.
