The most-watched horror movies during Halloween over the past five years have been revealed in a new report. Since the late 1970s, significantly boosted by the release of John Carpenter's 1978 classic Halloween , it's become a widespread yearly tradition for audiences to watch horror movies during the month of October in the lead-up to, and on Halloween on October 31.
According to Nielsen's special Halloween report (via Variety ) tracking October horror movie viewership since 2021, M3GAN 2.0 was the most-watched horror movie on TV this year during the week of October 1–7 , racking up 115 million minutes viewed on Peacock. Though the M3GAN sequel disappointed at the box office, it was the first horror movie that many audiences turned to as this year's Halloween season kic
