ST. CLAIR COUNTY, MI - Dozens of cars squeezed into the parking lot of Marine City’s Living Faith Church this month, inching forward to make room for their neighbors’ vehicles as they waited for boxes of food.

Nearly 200 cars pulled through the pop-up food bank, held in the small town just northeast of Detroit. Volunteers at the front of the line slowly worked to hand out a dwindling supply of food, including canned goods, pasta sauce, meat, carrots and potatoes.

Among them was U.S. Rep. Lisa McClain, R-Bruce Township, who made the food bank the first stop during a series of in-district visits in Southeast Michigan. The chair of the House Republican Conference hauled boxes of food across the parking lot to her constituents, chatting with those in line.
