U.S. President Donald Trump says Prime Minister Mark Carney apologized to him for the Ontario anti-tariffs ad that offended the president and triggered his decision to cut off trade talks.
Asked by a reporter aboard Air Force One whether he would resume trade negotiations with Canada, the American president replied emphatically, “No.”
“But I have a very good relationship,” with Carney, Trump went on. He suggested Carney acknowledged that the ad — sponsored by Premier Doug Ford and that prompted Trump to break off talks — was false, and three times said Carney apologized to him personally, apparently while they were in Asia.
