TEXARKANA, Ark. – An Arkansas veteran was honored with a Purple Heart at the Miller County Courthouse in Texarkana on Thursday.
Sgt. Terrance Lee Weever was injured in 2010 during combat in Operation Enduring Freedom while he was deployed with the U.S. National Guard in Afghanistan.
Congressman Bruce Westerman presented the Purple Heart with gratitude for Weever's sacrifice and service.
Obtaining a Purple Heart medal was a lengthy process, as Westerman’s office worked with Weever’s family to find the necessary documents and evidence to request a Purple Heart evaluation.
“He did all the work,” said Westerman. “He’s the one that got signed up for the military, got injured in the line of duty. So, what we did was minimal and easy, and should have been done a long time ago.”
