RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - In the world of TikTok and Instagram, bad health claims now float through feeds.

As Forbes warned in September 2025 , medical misinformation is becoming “America’s most expensive ‘drug’,” with falsehoods amplified by algorithms, prompting unnecessary ER visits, delayed or dangerous treatments, and false hope.

Now enter local cancer doctor Guy Jones, M.D., the medical director for Oncology Nevada. Dr. Jones has entered the TikTok and Instagram world with an active voice, doling out helpful, factual medical advice and helping dispel misinformation.

Dr. Jones says he understands what it’s like when a patient comes to the clinic with preconceived notions or interest in the latest “fad cure” and tries to integrate correct information into his digital presence.
