RALEIGH, N.C. (WGHP) — A bipartisan committee has been formed to investigate and potentially begin the process to expel a North Carolina representative accused of sex crimes.

On Friday, Speaker Destin Hall announced the formation of the House Select Committee to Investigate Alleged Misconduct and Other Matters Included in Charges Against Representative Cecil Brockman, according to a release from the speaker's office.

The committee will "formally" begin the process that may lead to the expulsion of Rep. Cecil Brockman (D-Guilford) from the state House of Representatives after he was arrested on accusations of child sex crimes.

The newly formed committee will investigate the charges and, if necessary, recommend expulsion. Brockman will be removed from all House committees on which he was
