CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Residents in North Carolina and South Carolina are “falling back” again this weekend, which means sunrise and sunset times will change.

Daylight Saving Time officially ends at 2 a.m. Sunday on the Eastern Seaboard.

On Saturday, Charlotte’s sunrise will happen at 7:45 a.m., and sunset will happen at 6:28 p.m. But by Sunday, the sunrise happens at 6:46 a.m. while the sunset kicks off at 5:27 p.m.

The Uniform Time Act of 1966 established uniform Daylight Saving Time. It does give states the option to exempt themselves, which only Hawaii, Arizona and all U.S. territories do, which has those areas staying on standard time year round.

The act also established the United States time zones that do observe it, including Atlantic, Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific.
