SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - As the government shutdown continues to impact families across Georgia, one local resource is helping residents navigate the growing hardship.
The 211 Helpline , ran by United Way of the Coastal Empire , connects callers with nearby nonprofits and services that offer assistance with housing, food and other immediate needs.
United Way of the Coastal Empire President & CEO Kimberly Waller said the helpline has seen many calls for rental assistance and food support lately. She said many residents in crisis may not know where to turn - and that’s where 211 steps in.
