There will likely be new set of pickleball courts located in Schumacher sometime next year, after a lengthy discussion and vote at this week’s meeting of city council.
Ward 3 Coun. Bill Gvozdanovic tabled a resolution to direct city staff to proceed with the development of six pickleball courts near the McIntyre Arena, as well as two courts on the property of Roland Michener Secondary School in South Porcupine, as well as another two courts elsewhere in the east end, with construction to commence in the spring.
Additionally, they were asked to prepare a report with cost estimates and other details necessary for applications to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation(NOHFC) for grant money.
